Lewis C. Weinberg Competition
The Lewis C. Weinberg Biennial Sculpture Competition was established by the family of Lewis C. Weinberg, who served as President of the Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park Board of Directors for many years until his death in November
2008. Prior to his participation on the Board, Weinberg was for many years Chief Executive Officer of Fel-Pro, a local company widely known for its progressive management. His interest in sculpture was such that he employed a full-time sculptor-in-residence. Among his many contributions to the Sculpture Park, Weinberg donated eight important pieces of sculpture from his personal collection. These sculptures form the centerpiece of the Park’s permanent collection.
The winning sculpture will be installed on the special pedestal in Weinberg Circle. Artists interested in having a sculpture considered for the next competition in 2025 may do so by completing the on-line application before the August 4, 2025 deadline. Artists from the states bordering Illinois are eligible.
The winning artist receives a $3,000 prize. Reasonable costs for the installation, transportation and travel are covered by the Weinberg family.
